Lucinda: The Little Ship of State by Patricia Miles
"In 1891 the Queensland Government's steam yacht Lucinda provided an elegant setting, on Sydney waters, for politicans and lawyers from the Australian colonies who were finalising a draft constitution for a new nation. This brief interlude, part of process which culminated in Federation in 1901, has created interest in this vessel which our curator Patricia Miles has called 'the little ship of the state'"- Foreward
This delightful little book was produced by the Australian National Maritime Museum in 2001 to celebrate the Centenary of Federation. There's a lot of maritime history in the Federation story of the nation, which was reflected in the Museum's exhibition Smugglers: Customs and Contraband 1901 - 2001.
