John Allcot was one of Australia's leading maritime artists, with his paintings of tall ships winning him worldwide acclaim.

POMONE: A frigate built in 1803 and became part of Admiral Nelson's navy. It attacked a French convoy off the coast of Brittany in 1807. It came to an untimely end when she was wrecked on The Needles, a rugged outcrop of rocks on the west coast of the Isle of Wight in the English Channel.
